ADAS Engineer I-41000


Summary:  Under the direction of higher level engineer or department management, this position supports the design and development processes for an assigned engineering program. This position exercises independent judgment rarely and operates within established guidelines.

Essential Functions:
Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific (HIAMS)AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):

  • Support corporate objectives and design engineering goals and objectives for future development, growth and improvement of the company overall.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering strategies and policies supporting the mission and expectations.
  • Plan and perform routine design engineering tasks for assigned projects toward successful accomplishment of established goals and objectives set forth in the corporate policy.
  • Support program initiatives in identifying product development opportunities, new business potential, and contract development related to department and company goals and objectives.
  • Assist with the development problem resolution and design of assigned program projects.
  • Assist with the monitoring of the development and testing activities of prototypes, product specification, resource planning and budgeting, quote development and following the products from development through to production.
  • Assist with program tests, analyzing test data, and writing test reports to record operating performance.
  • Provide data to support product compliance with customer or internal specifications and applicable standards.
  • Help develop detailed engineering specifications for product development.
  • Support the direction on design and development activities to improve, modify or design new products.
  • Represent the company with the assigned program’s customers, to ensure customer satisfaction with feasibility and design specifications.
  • Track and report design changes for assigned programs.
  • Work alongside other program staff (engineering, sales, and test) as well as with customer engineers to accomplish and ensure set goals are met, schedules are maintained and problems encountered during development process are satisfactorily resolved.
  • Travel to customer locations supporting product development and throughout (s) for product reviews, testing, and change updates with periodic travel with customer to company manufacturing facilities (domestic and international).
  • Ensure legal compliance in all engineering product design activities.
  • May be required to serve as a liaison between the international design teams and customers.
  • Review and report project status to supervisor and/or department management regularly.
  • Support all business objectives of the company by aligning Design Engineering activities with the organizational goals and objectives.
  • Consistently use exceptional customer service skills and work with all levels of staff and maintain strict confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and follow all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Follow all quality policy standards.
  • Design vehicle system to install ADAS components into demo car and create functionally test to determine whether demonstrating to customer is feasible.
  • Making counter measure with the components engineers if problem is occurred during the functionally test.
  • Support demonstrating the demo car to customers and have requirement from them and make report to inform the requirement to the components engineers.
  • Support the components design engineers to comply customer requirement.
  • Evaluate functionality of ADAS on SILS and HILS by him/herself and on vehicle with test engineers.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily;
  • Be able to perform duties utilizing current company software applications;
  • Having skill in software programming languages such as assembly, C or other high level languages such as Matlab/Simulink, having skill in electrical circuit design, high performance computer system or having skill system engineering;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Perform duties in an ethical and professional manner;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, system engineering or a related technical area.
  • Has thorough knowledge of specialized engineering principles and practices

Experience: Freshman
Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage and capabilities.

Travel Requirements:

  • Candidate will perform initial hire 6 mo. in design engineering and introductory training at the design and technical center in Farmington Hills, MI.
  • Candidate will perform additional 6 mo. training periods, and must be open to rotation to assignments at Kentucky or Georgia manufacturing plants.
  • Candidate must be open to potential assignments overseas.
